SF Bay Area Readers: Free BART Tickets & Ice Cream via BART’s 40th Anniversary
0Residents and commuters living in the Greater San Francisco Bay Area (or in the city) might be interested to know that BART is celebrating its 40th Anniversary this month, and among the giveaways that they’re doing are 1,000 free BART tickets valued at $40 each!
The 1,000 $40 BART tickets will be randomly given away by the “BART 40th Anniversary Squad” randomly throughout the day tomorrow (Fri. Sept 20) and Sat. Sept. 21 to BART riders wearing a BART 40th anniversary sticker. Here are the deets for scoring a sticker:
On Friday, BART volunteers will pass out stickers between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. at the Embarcadero, Montgomery, 12th Street, Downtown Berkeley, El Cerrito del Norte and Fruitvale BART stations. On Saturday, stickers will be distributed on trains from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Boxes of stickers will be available both days at all BART stations for riders who do not receive a sticker from street teams. Check near station agent booths for sticker boxes.
BART sticker wearers can be spotted by the 40th Anniversary Squad and given a free $40 ticket anywhere! On BART, in the BART station, or even outside the BART station!
For more info on the $40 BART tickets being given away, check out the BART page. But if you’re planning on commuting tomorrow on BART anyway, it doesn’t hurt to wear one of those stickers. Who knows, you might get lucky!
Of course if the free BART tickets don’t interest you, there are also the ice cream parties they are holding on September 29, October 13 & 27 at various BART stations (read below for the specifics).
Ice cream party deets:
- September 29, 1 pm – 4 pm at Rockridge station & Powell Street station
- October 13, 1 pm – 4 pm at Castro Valley station & Fremont station
- October 27, 1 pm – 4 pm at El Cerrito Plaza station & Pittsburg/Bay Point station
Happy 40th, BART! This BART rider is just happy to see more BART cars receiving the vinyl seats!
Fun fact: The featured photo for this post is of the BART employees in the 1970s. Does anyone else think they look more like airline stewardesses?! Photo courtesy of BART.
