MONEY: Get $10 Amazon.com credit for referrals to Amazon Student (6 months of free Amazon shipping)
3Amazon.com is running a limited promotion–until the end of this January–where any Amazon customer may refer friends to sign up for Amazon Student, and then receive a $10 credit for each friend that signs up.
Amazon Student is Amazon’s version of Prime, but at 50% off for students. All you need is access to a valid .edu email address in order to sign up. The first six months of the membership is considered a free trial period. Just like Amazon Prime membership, Amazon Student membership includes free 2-day shipping on all Amazon fulfilled items. Perfect for college students who have to order textbooks and books every quarter anyway. The main difference between Amazon Prime and Amazon Student (other than price) is that the free version of Amazon Student does not include free video streaming.
After the trial period is over, Amazon Student members will be offered to renew at a discounted rate of $39/year for Amazon Student Prime–which grants full access to all of the Prime features, including video streaming.
This is not only a great way to get some Amazon credit for future purchases (and what can’t you purchase on Amazon these days?), but it’s also a great way to help out your friends who may not have heard of Amazon Student before.
- To get your own referral link/code, sign into your Amazon.com account and then visit the Amazon Student Referral page here.
- If you have a .edu email address and you are just interested in just signing up for Amazon Student and want to give me a little something, you can register for Amazon Student via my link here and I will get $10 credit.
On a side note: it is not clear if you get credit for if they sign up and quit before or when the trial ends, or if you get credit once they upgrade or renew to a full Amazon Student Prime membership at the discounted rate of $39/yr. Personally, I think the $39/yr is well-worth it for the amount of shipping I do personally, but I know college students might have some pretty tight budgets. If nothing else, the 6 month free trial is worth signing up for.
