Today’s Monday Travel Deal Destination is to one of my favorite cities in Northern America: Montreal, Canada!
Flights to Canada are generally expensive, especially the west coast to French Canada. Flights from SFO to Montreal usually range in November from $600 to $1,000 roundtrip for economy. So as you can imagine, I was relatively happy when I heard about this deal for $351 roundtrip for LAX to YUL or even $401 roundtrip for SFO to YUL.
Here are the deets for the deal:
- Travel on U.S. Airways
- Los Angeles (LAX) to Montreal (YUL)
- Sample dates checked for pricing: November 2nd – 7th
- Valid for travel late October – February, 2013
- Book at usairways.com.
- Availability may be limited / based on travel days
Tip of the hat for this deal goes to the gents at The Flight Deal. Although, truth be told, I had to do a little bit of digging in order to figure out actual dates that worked for the deal. So my recommendation is to start with just LAX to YUL to find cheap dates. (The best I found was $351 roundtrip.) If you’re up in Northern California, you can use the same dates for SFO to YUL–just keep in mind it’ll be about $50 more expensive since it’ll most likely be for a connection in LAX.
With all of the logistics set aside, Montreal is a great destination city. The last time I was in Montreal, I had a blast staying in the Latin Quarter. By day the city is gorgeous, and by night you can just feel the vibe of the city come alive everywhere. During my first visit, I was surprised to be walking around the streets of the Latin Quarter at past 2 AM to find it still busy with folks just sitting around and enjoying a beer or two with a group of friends. It’s a type of street life that I haven’t found anywhere in the States–not even in NYC. The beer in Montreal is also phenomenal, and makes it hard to go back to American-brewed beer.
