Rocketmiles is a relatively new startup that allows its users to earn thousands of airline miles for select hotel stays booked through their website. Currently they only support providing miles for four airline loyalty programs: United MileagePlus, American AAdvantage, Delta SkyMiles, and HawaiianMiles.
While the number of cities available for hotel stays might also be limited (currently only serving 12 cities as of this post), the rewards are significant enough to warrant bookings through their website. For example, a $209/night stay at the Hilton Palmer House in Chicago will give you 7,500 United miles for a two night stay. I value each United mile at 2 cents each, so that would effectively be a $150 return on a two night stay for a gorgeous hotel.
The amount of miles varies depending on the hotel stay price, but it looks like the ballpark number is that you get about a 20-30% return (in airline miles) of your total hotel stay before taxes & fees. For those of us who treat airline miles as cash anyway, this is as good (if not better) than cashback. It also helps that the hotel prices also seem pretty competitive.
It should be noted that if you do book through Rocketmiles you will most likely not be eligible to receive any loyalty hotel points with the hotel you are staying. (i.e. no double dipping and getting Hilton HHonors points and United miles when booking via Rocketmiles.)
List of cities Rocketmiles currently serves (are you heading to any of these in the near future?):
- Las Vegas
- Los Angeles
- New York
- San Diego
- San Francisco
- Washington, D.C.
Bonus 1,000 miles for signing up and booking:
As an extra bonus, when you invite your friends to join Rocketmiles, you earn a bonus of 1000 miles each for both yourself and your friend after their first booking. That’s a win-win situation to me. 🙂
If you want to make a new account and score that extra 1,000 miles bonus after your first stay, here is my referral link: https://www.rocketmiles.com/refer/C8NAS8U3
(Or just enter the code “C8NAS8U3” when signing up to get your bonus 1,000 miles.)
Definitely worth adding Rocketmiles to your radar when you’re booking your next hotel stay in one of those 12 major cities.
