Get a $10 Staples Gift Card for Your $100 MasterCard Gift Card Purchase
0Yesterday I posted about a bonus United deal where you can spend $1k on your United Credit Card (as long as you’ve been a cardmember since or prior to August 1, 2012) and get a bonus 5k United miles by registering.
In that same post, I also mentioned that Staples is running a sale in their weekly ad (the one starting today and running till October 14, 2012) for MasterCard gift cards. Specifically, buy any $100 MasterCard Gift Card and get a $10 Staples Gift Card back via Staples Easy Rebate. Limit 10 per person. If you count the $5.95 activation fee for these sweeties, that’s still a $4 (and five cent) profit you’re making. (Assuming you treat Staples gift cards as cash.) These gift cards are best redeemed for free-after-rebate items, if you just want to get a return on your money for it.
I’m going to be heading to my local Staples store to give this a whirl. I already had a friend who made a purchase this morning and he confirmed that he received an easy rebate for this and it said limit 10 per person.
Now, since the United promotion isn’t a guarantee (we don’t know for sure if it’s targeted or if it’s open to anyone), I would recommend using your Chase Ink credit card for this purchase first. That way you are guaranteed to score the 5x points for the purchase.
But if you don’t have a Chase Ink product but you have a Chase United credit card, this might be a good way to earn some extra points. (Assuming the promotion actually pans through.)
I’ll post back here later after I’ve made my purchases.
