Earning Miles via MyPoints on Every Day Items
1MyPoints is an online rewards program that gives you points for participating in surveys, partner offers, and for using their coupons. Yes, you heard the last part correctly: you get points by saving money and actually using coupons!
I think many people disregard MyPoints because the rewards do not seem worth the effort (i.e. it takes 4,600 MyPoints points to redeem for a $25 Visa Gift Card). And at typically 10 to 75 points per survey you take, I don’t blame them for thinking that way.
But here’s the secret behind scoring MyPoints points fast and easily:
- Take advantage of their Featured Partner Deals posted on their front page. For example, you can earn 2,000 MyPoints points for just signing up for a Netflix Trial! Unlike other miles loyalty programs, MyPoints does not require you to actually pay anything on Netflix…you just need to have a trial for a few days and then you can cancel! There are also tons of other offers that go up all the time that are several thousand points at once.
- Make sure you sign up for their newsletters. MyPoints releases bonusmail newsletters on a daily basis. It adds to my daily flood of email (which is currently at two to three hundred legitimate emails a day), but it’s usually well worth the trouble. Most of these bonusmails awards you free points (5 to 10 points) for just CLICKING on the advertisement or link! You don’t actually have to do anything past that click. It’s super easy and takes less than 20 seconds. Special promotional coupons and offers also come via email, so be sure to subscribe!
- Coupons, coupons, coupons. The coupons section of MyPoints is a great resource to save money on every day items you might normally buy at Walmart or other stores, but at the same time, it’s a GREAT way to actually score MyPoints points for simply using the coupon! I remember recently I had purchased a Glade scented candle and a Pledge household cleaning spray from Walmart, each purchased using coupons (that discounted the items by about 50%) from MyPoints. It saved me money, AND in the end, I scored 3,000 MyPoints points from just using the coupons. That gets you to your rewards a LOT faster.
There are so many ways to earn miles by just leveraging your money in a smart way that works with your current lifestyle. MyPoints is just another one of those ways. This might not be the best thing for everyone–especially if you’re really busy and value every minute of your time. But if you have some extra time to kill during breaks, or if you’re just inching to get yourself ahead with some miles, this is a great option.
MyPoints points let you redeem for United MileagePlus miles (which I value the most), as well as Marriott Travel Cards and Hyatt Gift Cards.
I generally make about 6,000 MyPoints points every three months without actively working on it. (I only do a couple surveys a month, and get most of my points through partner offers or coupons. Surveys take time, and that’s not something I have an abundance of lately.)
