British Airways (BA) is running a sweet promotion for roundtrip flights in any cabin between North America and Europe.
You can earn a BONUS 100,000 Avios miles with 3 roundtrip tickets–must fly by Jan. 31.
This seems like a pretty sweet deal for anyone with some time to travel to Europe (or plans on doing it anyway) between now and January 31st. Especially for those of you who have business travel to Europe coming up. Even if you are just planning on one roundtrip ticket to and from Europe, you can still get in on this promotion and earn 15,000 bonus Avios.
Just register for the bonus promotion here and when you fly roundtrip from USA to Europe via British Airlines, you’ll get bonus miles for each roundtrip. Here is the breakdown of the bonuses:
- First roundtrip: Get 15k bonus Avios
- Second roundtrip: Get 35k bonus Avios
- Third roundtrip: Get 50k bonus Avios
- Any roundtrip after third: Get 50k bonus Avios
So after your third roundtrip you will have effectively already earned 100k bonus avios (on top of what you normally earn for the flights and with your miles earning credit card)!
Must travel by January 31, 2013 and must register before booking. Must provide your BA Executive Club (their loyalty program) number during booking to receive points. (You can register for free here.) Allow 4-6 weeks for the points to appear in your account.
With one-way economy flights on BA from San Francisco (SFO) to London, U.K. Heathrow (LHR) only 25,000 Avios each way, the 100k bonus Avios you score could be redeemed for two roundtrip tickets to Europe! That’s a great value! You can calculate how many Avios points it takes to fly anywhere via BA’s Avios calculator.

UPDATE 9/29/2012 at 10:40 AM: It’s been pointed out that BA charges fuel surcharges + taxes on top of the Avios redemption, which makes redeeming for economy roundtrip tickets a waste of Avios. (You’d be paying about $677 USD in fees.) I made a huge oversight in calculations when writing this post, as I didn’t know about BA’s policy. The promotion is still active and is still a good way to get more Avios, if you *are* planning on flying to London anyway. But just keep in mind that this isn’t a super sweet deal anymore as while you are earning Avios, those other roundtrip tickets when you burn Avios are still going to be costing you about $677.
