Chase Freedom 2013 Quarterly Spend Bonus Categories Announced
0The Chase Freedom credit card is one of my favorite “workhorse” cards for earning miles, because of the quarterly spend bonuses that allow me to earn effectively 5x points per $1 spent using the Freedom card in the bonus categories for up to $1,500 per quarter in the bonus categories.
Since the Freedom card’s rewards center only allows you to redeem for cash back rewards, I then transfer over the points to my Chase Ink Bold card’s ultimate rewards center for redemption to one of the major airline and hotel loyalty programs, including but not limited to: United, Korean Airlines, British Airways, Southwest, Amtrak, Hyatt, Marriott, Ritz-Carlton, or Priority Club. If you don’t have a Chase Ink card, Chase Sapphire credit cardholders can also transfer their points earned via their Freedom card to the Sapphire Preferred card.
This quarter’s bonus category is currently 5x on spends with Hotels, Airlines, Best Buy, and Kohl’s. That’s a pretty diverse category range, that I’ve been happy to use.
Chase also just announced their 2013 Freedom quarterly bonus categories:
- January – March: Gas stations, Drugstores, Starbucks
- April – June: Restaurants, Movie theaters
- July – September: Gas stations, Theme parks, Kohl’s
- October – December: Select department stores, Amazon.com
With California’s gas prices hitting the top of the country’s price charts, I’m happy to see that gas stations are showing up in two quarters as a bonus spend category. And of course, the Amazon.com quarterly spend for next year’s Black Friday shopping season is good to see too. 🙂
Overall, pretty exciting news!
