Happy late Tuesday afternoon, readers!
LivingSocial is offering $10 Starbucks gift cards for $5. Supplies are limited, so don’t hesitate too long to get in on this deal! Early bird gets the worm. (Or in this case, the gift card at 50% off.)
Personally, while I love supporting local small business coffee shops, I have found that Starbucks is an easily accessible standard wherever I travel to. The drinks are (relatively) consistent between the thousands of stores they have, and it’s usually easy to find a Starbucks in the city you’re traveling to. Starbucks also has a great rewards program for their customers, where you can receive “Gold Status” to score complimentary upgrades (syrup pumps, soy milk, etc.) as well as a refill per visit. There are some other perks such as a free drink for every 15 purchases, a fancy gold card with your name on it, etc.
In order to participate in the rewards program, you *have* to have a Starbucks gift card and you have to register it via Starbucks.com. Starbucks tracks your purchases via that gift card, so you have to be sure to use the gift card you register to get the points. This means using a single gift card.
But don’t worry, you can still easily score extra miles and points by buying the Starbucks gift cards via office supply stores (i.e. Staples and Office Depot), especially if you have the Chase Ink Bold or Plus cards which score you 5x on office supply purchases. That being said, these LivingSocial and other deal sites periodically release this kind of discount on Starbucks gift cards, so it’s always worthwhile to save money. (And use your favorite miles earning card to purchase on LivingSocial while you’re at it.)

(Note: This is my personal referral link, so I receive LivingSocial bucks if you’re a new customer buying through this link. If you prefer not to use my link (sad face :(), you can type in the address yourself. But if you do: you get extra brownie points. :])
